On Tuesday, January 27, 2009, HOSA members from the School of Career and Technical Education visited the Boys and Girls Club.  April Voyles is the HOSA sponsor and the Allied Health instructor at the School of Career and Technical Education.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a student organization in which Allied Health students may join and participate in club activities as well as educational competitions with other schools in the district and state.

Mrs. Voyles and HOSA members planned an activity with the children that emphasized hand washing and its importance.  Each child was given a coloring sheet that included pictures of the six steps to proper hand washing.  The HOSA students reminded the children that hand washing is the #1 way to prevent illness.  The children were reminded to wash their hands before eating and after toileting.

Mrs. Voyles and the HOSA students enjoyed the time with the children at the Boys and Girls Club and appreciate Brenda Broughton at the Boys and Girls Club for allowing them the opportunity to present an important health lesson to the children.

Allied Health students and HOSA members who participated in this activity included:  Kaylee Baker, Lara Chism, Jessica Gates, Cody Grose, Tiffany Gray, Anna Millender, Christina Romero, Haley West, and Amanda Wommack.
