Superintendent Search News Release – February 2024
The New Albany School District Board members contracted with the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) to assist in their search for the new superintendent of the New Albany School District.
MSBA will serve as the facilitator of the search process for the school board members.
The search process will include advertising the superintendent vacancy using the qualifications to be a superintendent, as defined in MS Code of 1972, 37-9-13, and the criteria for the new superintendent, which were defined by the Board.
The application is in a digital format and will be available for four weeks at the MSBA website from February 7, 2024, through March 6, 2024.
The MSBA Search Team will present a comprehensive, confidential report to the New Albany School District board members. The board members will review the applications and supporting documents and will determine which applicants they will interview. The board members will decide whom to appoint as the new superintendent.
Each application is reviewed, analyzed, and evaluated by the MSBA Search Team according to state code and the board-defined criteria. Background and reference checks and a panel interview are completed for each applicant.
MSBA does not provide the names of the applicants or the number of applicants to anyone other than the school board members. MSBA facilitates the search process and does not make recommendations to the Board regarding the selection of the superintendent.
The new superintendent is expected to begin work on July 1, 2024.
