Emilee Bennett, NAHS School Reporter

With the ending of spring break comes more school, which means more New Albany High School news to report!  I’m sure everyone was glad to have a break though!  School can get overwhelming and it is nice to just relax every once in awhile.  It won’t be too long until we have April break for Easter, it may not be as long, but it is still nice to have a couple extra days!

Even though it was break for most students, some sports players still had some games to play! Softball players had a game March 16th at the Northeast Invitational in Booneville. They beat Kossuth 1-0 and Bruce 8-2; however, they fell short to Booneville 4-6. Tuesday they played Lewisburg. Thursday they will play at home (Sportsplex) against North Pontotoc. Friday they will play at East Union at the Union County Tournament .

Baseball players played in the Union County tournament at Myrtle on the 15th and 16th.  NA beat West Union 14-0 and also won against Myrtle with a score of 13-0.   They continued to do well when they beat Ingomar 15-0. Tuesday they played Lafayette at Legion Field.  Friday they will play at Lafayette for a division game as well and on Saturday will play Ripley in the morning 11:00 (JV) and 1:00 (Varsity) and continue on to Booneville at 5:00 (JV) and 7:00 (Varsity).

Congrats to Cade Simmons, Jerrell Howell, and Stan Gilbert who will advance to State for NAHS Powerlifting.

NAHS Tennis had a meet against Grenada at home. They did an amazing job winning 7-0.  Tuesday the JV players had a home match against Lafayette.  Thursday they will have a home match against North Pontotoc. Golf girls played Tuesday at Tupelo.  They will have a match at Oaks Thursday against Oxford, Pontotoc, Tupelo, and Caledonia. Track will have a meet Friday at Aberdeen.

NAHS Art Show will be on April 3rdat the Union County Heritage Museum.  Be sure to stop by the museum and check out NAHS student’s artwork that they have so diligently been working on since the beginning of the year.

If you plan to be in the beauty review, have your money ready by March 30th. The English II Writing test was Wednesday. Students will receive report cards March 23rd, do not try to hide them!  Parents and Guardians will get to see the progress their child has made in the third quarter.  Seniors need to remember that grades still matter in the last quarter so don’t start slacking off!

FCA t-shirt order forms will be due by next Wednesday. The FCA rally will be April 25th so mark it on your calendar!  Have a fantastic week and enjoy the weather!
