Hello New Albany!
Congratulations to the NAHS baseball team for their run in the playoffs. The Bulldogs made it to the 3rd round of playoffs where they were then defeated by the Amory Panthers on Monday. Congratulations to the tennis team for their run in the playoffs as well.
The High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) Team went to Recognition Day at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center on Thursday, May 5 and May 6. The original recognition at Marshall Space Flight Center was canceled due to storm damage so they were invited to Stennis Space Center. The students had to set-up their displays and present their design to NASA engineers. Then later that day in a program the students were recognized for their hard work and hardware design. The HUNCH team members that traveled to the space center were Austin Richey, Ben Butler, Joe Male, and Amanda Hill with instructor Latrina Bynum and Assistant Principal Earl Richard.
Last Friday, New Albany High School hosted Tech Day, the vendors included: TVA,MDOT,Army Corp of Engineers, Mora, Mississippi HWY Patrol, New Albany Police, Union County Search Rescue, Union County Sheriff Dept, Mississippi Dept Fisheries and Parks, Baptist Hospital, New Albany Fire Dept, Mississippi National Guard, Northeast Community College , Air Evac, and Mississippi Forestry. We would like to thank all who participated and made tech day successful.
The annual Frog-A-Nanny events were held last Friday, May 6. At Frog-A-Nanny, two kings were crowned; Ismael Mendoza and Staron Jones. We would like to say thanks to the over 400 volunteers who helped make 2011 Frog-A-Nanny a success.
Awards night will be next Monday, and a breakfast will be held that morning. The National Honor Society induction ceremony will be held at 9:30 following the breakfast.
