The Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has recently announced the Scholar Athlete Teams for the 2009-2010 school year.  Each year coaches in MHSAA member schools may participate in the Scholar-Athlete Team Recognition Program by nominating the teams they coach.  Any varsity team with a 3.00 or higher composite grade average for the first semester of the school year is eligible to receive a team academic award.

There were thirteen teams at New Albany High School (NAHS) to receive this distinction.  The teams included:  football; boys/girls basketball; slow/fast pitch softball; baseball; tennis; boys/girls soccer; cross-country; golf; powerlifting; and cheer.

“We are pleased that our athletes are dedicated to both academics and athletics,” said NAHS Principal Lance Evans.  “We congratulate the thirteen teams who were recognized as scholar athlete teams.”
