New Albany School District Administrators announced the hiring of Ron Price as head football coach at New Albany High School.  Price has coached in New Albany for five years, serving as head coach at New Albany Middle School from 2002-2005, defensive backs coach at New Albany High School in 2006, and ninth grade head coach in 2007.   Prior to moving to New Albany, Price was the wide receivers coach at Cleveland High School.

New Albany High School Principal, Jay Foster believes the New Albany School District took at great step forward in hiring Coach Price.  “Ron is a person of integrity, character, and great work ethic,” said Foster.  “I believe Ron’s relationship with and devotion to the student athletes of New Albany will allow him to be very successful.”

Robert Merritt, New Albany Schools Athletic Director agrees, “He is one of the finest young Christian men I know, and a good coach and good role model for our players,” said Merritt.  “I look forward to supporting him and working with him in his new position.”

Price begins work immediately as head coach.  He is meeting with coaches and players at New Albany High School today.  He is excited about the opportunity and optimistic about the future of the football program.

“We have outstanding assistant coaches in this program that I look forward to working with more closely,” said Price.  “I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Rickey Bates and Bubba Davis. We have built a strong foundation and I am excited to get started. “

Speaking of the New Albany players, Coach Price had the highest praise for the team.  “Our players have tremendous work ethic – they are terrific.  They know that we want to be successful in football, but we are also preparing them for life,” explained Price.  “That is the most important thing.”

Price and his wife Amanda appreciate the support they have felt from the community.  “New Albany has been our home for five years and we are thrilled to have this opportunity here,” said Price.  “I especially appreciate the confidence of the school board and administration in giving me this opportunity.”

New Albany Schools Superintendent Charles Garrett stated, “I think Coach Price is an outstanding young man and coach.   I look forward to following his career at New Albany High School.”  Garrett added, “We talked to a number of coaches during the search and we kept coming back to Ron Price.  He is an asset to our district and to our community.”
