Recognized for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence using technology across the entire education system
New Albany School District is pleased to announce it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School District. School districts apply and are selected for this distinction based on their commitment to continuous innovation in education across all schools in the system, and using Apple products to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning districtwide.
To be selected for this distinction, a district must establish a one-to-one program, demonstrate innovative use of the Apple platform, the faculty and staff must demonstrate proficiency with the iPad and Mac, and there must be a commitment to continuous innovation.
“Utilizing technology in a positive way has created more opportunities for collaborative project based learning and real-world application,” explained Summer Tyer, Director of Innovation for New Albany School District.
All schools in the New Albany School District have gone through the engaging process of reflecting on how administrators, teachers and students work together to personalize learning, provide collaborative and creative opportunities, and connect students to the world around them.
- New Albany High School became the district’s first Apple Distinguished School in 2019 and recertified in 2022.
- New Albany Middle School became an Apple Distinguished School in 2022.
- New Albany Elementary School and the New Albany School of Career & Technical Education became an Apple Distinguished School in 2023.
