The New Albany-Pontotoc game scheduled for September 2 at Kitchens’ Field in New Albany will be a featured “Friday Night Under the Lights” high school football game.  The New Albany-Pontotoc game is the first of ten high school games across the state to be chosen as a “Friday Night Under the Lights” game.

A special “Let’s Walk GameDay” will be held prior to the game at the high school track.  “Friday Night Under the Lights” and WiFi Sports Network have partnered with “Let’s Go Walkin Mississippi” and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi to bring gameday walks to high schools across the state.  Let’s Go Walkin’ Mississippi is a community program sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi

Join Russ Robinson and the Friday Night Under the Lights crew for a walk towards a healthier Mississippi at 5:00 p.m.  before the game broadcast.  The first 500 fans to participate in the walk will receive a free event t-shirt and a complimentary “Let’s Go Walkin’ Mississippi” bottled water.  Students of all ages, Bulldog fans, and community members are encouraged to participate in this pre-game walk.  Each of the two schools who have walking participants will be awarded a $250 check by WiFi Sports Network.

Walking is a simple low-impact aerobic activity that can make a big impact on your health.  Walking is generally safe for most people and it doesn’t require practice, skill or much knowledge about physical activity.  Some benefits of walking include:  weight management, lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and increases HDL (good) cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, reduces risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, improves your mood and sense of well-being, helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints.  Join the “Let’s Walk GameDay” and take a walk towards good health.

The pre-game show and football game will be streamed live at www.wifisportsnetwork.net beginning at 7:15 p.m.  Go to the New Albany School District website at www.newalbanyschools.us for more information on “Let’s Walk GameDay” and live streaming of the game.
