New Albany Middle School (NAMS) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025 for its 1:1 iPad initiative.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence.  They use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in learning, teaching, and the school environment, and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

“New Albany Middle School has become a forward thinking and innovative school. Our teachers and staff are extremely talented educators who choose to be different on purpose,” explained Paul Henry, NAMS Principal. “We are excited that Apple has recognized NAMS as an innovative school not just in our state, but in the world.”

NAMS implemented its 1:1 iPad program in 2018 in an effort to prepare our students for the world of technology. Throughout this process, all NAMS teachers have become certified Apple Teachers.

iPads are an integral part of the school day for all subject areas and learning needs.  This technology has expanded opportunities for extensive research, group activities, project based learning, and online learning platforms, all of which are crucial to 21st century and college success.

Having a learning environment where every student has their own iPad allows for other online and technology-based learning options such as Mastery Connect and Canvas.

“The selection of New Albany Middle School as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our continued academic success where our students are in unique learning environments being challenged as they prepare for high school and beyond,” Henry explained.

“New Albany School District is committed to ensuring students are provided with a learning environment supporting innovative learning practices,” said Lance Evans, Superintendent.  “We are honored that our middle school is recognized among this group of educational institutions earning the distinction of Apple Distinguished Schools.”
