One of the busiest weekends for our school has ended, and we’re ready for another week. The production of Anything Goes was this weekend and it was very successful! The students did incredible and the directors made it all possible. We would like to thank all the students and faculty that were involved, and all the people in the community who supported.

Basketball playoffs begin this week and now is when the wins count. Monday night of this week girls play Byhalia and boys play Senatobia. (Scores to be announced) The results of these games determine whether the season is over or they continue to play. We want to wish both teams and all coaches good luck!

This past week, students got the opportunity to participate in the district TSA competition. TSA is a club where students learn more about technology, inventing, writing, presenting, and so much more. The competitions allow students to perform or send entries to judges and be rewarded for their hard work. Our students in TSA represented our school well. Many from our school will participate in the State competition in March.

As a county, we are very privileged to have the vocational center, which allows students to take classes that are directed towards the careers they would like to have in the future. One of these classes, taught by Anita Alef, is culinary arts. These students have recently gotten the opportunity to participate in competition. The students who participated were Isaac Turner (New Albany), Cesar Osorio (New Albany), Wesley Simpson (New Albany), Jessye Staten (Ingomar), and Megan Garrison (Myrtle). This five-man team prepared appetizers, entree, and dessert in one hour on an open flame burner. The students were judged on knife skills and safety, food sanitation, the plate’s presentation and the flavor. Each student was evaluated on professional appearance, cooperative work ethics, teamwork and communication during this process. The team placed 2nd in the 5th annual ProStart Competition.

Students get the chance to participate in whatever they’re gifted thing, which is a great opportunity our school gives. We’re so proud of all our students, and the teachers that give them the opportunities to do great things!
