Here at New Albany High School, seasons are ending and new activities are beginning. Soccer season is over and we couldn’t be more proud of our Dawgs. The boys got put out in the first round of playoffs and the girls got put out in the second. Both teams went into overtime, played their hardest, and left it all on the field. Two of our senior girls have already signed to play in college. Next year, Katelyn Watson will be a Mississippi State Bulldog and Hannah Anderson will be an ICC Indian. We’re proud of our team and proud of these girls for continuing to challenge themselves and show their talent.

Basketball is still going on and our teams are playing in hopes of reaching playoffs. Both teams are very talented and can go a long way. The games that count are going on now and we wish them the best of luck!

Powerlifting has begun and has really given students the opportunity to stand out. They had a match this past week and many placed in their weight divisions. They are also working towards titles and State rings and we wish them the best as well!

The play, Anything Goes, is coming soon! Opening night will be next Friday, February 14th.  Practices are getting longer and performance is getting better. So many talented students are in the play this year and you won’t want to miss it! We’re so thankful to have Sylvia and Phil Nanney, and their daughter Mary Beth Muncie directing the play. There’s a reason the play is phenomenal every year and most of the credit goes to the directors for the fine job they do. Tickets are on sale now. Admission is $10 for reserved seats or $8 at the door. You won’t want to miss this!

In the month of February, we have another exciting event that will be held in the High School Auditorium. Blues legend, Sam Mosely, will be here performing on Thursday night, February 27th, beginning at 7 p.m. Before he performs with special guests from the school, there will be a documentary shown, created by Mrs. LeeAnn Thompson and her students. Admission is free and it will definitely be a night to remember.

There’s so much going on at NAHS. Just as one activity ends, there’s another one to look forward to. We would like to invite everyone in the community to come see for yourself all the talent that we have at this school. These events will be a must see, and we’re so proud of the students and leaders that make it that way.
