Alternate New Albany High School Graduation Ceremony

July 31, 2020

Dear Seniors and Parents,

Due to executive orders mandated statewide, New Albany High School will alter our previous plans for our traditional graduation ceremony. Executive orders state that attendance for arenas cannot exceed 25% capacity. NAHS wants to honor its senior class in the best, safest way possible. We will conduct three graduation ceremonies this Friday night to honor our graduates. Students will attend their perspective ceremony by alphabetical order. We are asking those seniors who have a speech to attend all three ceremonies for each member in the class to have the opportunity to hear each speech. These are the guidelines for Friday night:

Ceremony 1 will be from 5:30-6:15 pm

Seniors arrive at 4:30 pm; Guests may arrive at 4:45 pm

Last name letters A-Gr

Ceremony 2 will be from 7:00-7:45 pm

Seniors arrive at 6:00 pm; Guests may arrive at 6:30 pm

Last name letters Gu-Pa

Ceremony 3 will be from 8:30-9:15 pm

Seniors arrive at 7:30 pm, Guests may arrive at 8:00 pm

Last name letters Pe-Z

All faculty and guests must wear a face covering to enter the program. Each senior will be allowed up to 7 guests as before. All guests will sit on the home side of the stands; the visitor side will not be used. All guests in a party must be present at the time of entry. NASD faculty will seat each party following CDC guidelines and all parties will be separated 6 feet apart at all times.

Once each ceremony concludes, seniors will be escorted back to the high school where each student must return to their vehicle to leave campus. This will allow room for the following ceremony. At the conclusion of each ceremony, guests will be released by party, remaining 6 feet apart and must leave the high school campus immediately.

Seniors or parents can pick up their tickets at New Albany High School at the following times:

Monday, July 27 1:00-4:00 pm

Tuesday, July 28 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Wednesday, July 29 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Students must pick up their tickets during these times to attend graduation. This will help with planning a successful ceremony. In the envelope with their tickets, will be directions for attending a mandatory graduation practice Thursday night at 6:00 pm. This practice will take place virtually on Google Meet. Also in the packet will be directions on where to enter the high school for each ceremony. Failure to pick up tickets will result in the senior not participating in the ceremony.

Thank you for your participation in our 2020 Graduation Ceremony. Please make sure to follow all school personnel directions Friday night in order to provide this senior class a special time. We are proud of what this class has accomplished and look forward to the wonderful things they will do in the future.
