New Albany School District recently announced the hiring of Dr. Leanne Long as the Director of Career & Technical Education.  Long brings several years of experience and success in technology instruction, teacher instruction, and instructional leadership. Most recently, Long has served as the Director of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning for the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.

Long is a graduate of Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology Teacher Education, a Master of Education in Technology, and a PhD. in Elementary, Middle, & Secondary Education Administration.

She has more than 25 years of experience in public education at the K-12, community college, and university level.

Long and her husband Dr. John Long have two children.

Long stated the following about the opportunity to be a part of the district, “I am honored to join the New Albany School District as the new Career & Technical Education Director. I look forward to working collaboratively with students, staff, and community partners to build upon the established excellence in the CTE programs.”

Superintendent Tony Cook said that he is eager for Dr. Long to begin her work with the students and instructors at the Career & Technical Education Center.  “We are fortunate to be adding Dr. Long to our administrative team.  Her experience as an administrator, professor, project manager, and technology specialist will be valuable to our school district and to our community.”

Dr. Long was approved by the New Albany School Board of Trustees on April 7 and replaces Paul Henry who announced his retirement earlier in the semester.
