On November 20, New Albany School District Workforce Development Coordinator Avery Grace Basil, New Albany Career & Technical Education Work Based Learning Instructor Brittany Brock, and New Albany Middle School Career Coach Emily Hicks guided the second cohort of 5th grade GLAD (Girls Leading All Day) girls on a field trip to downtown New Albany. The students explored women-owned boutiques and businesses. They concluded the day with an etiquette lesson at Nico’s, where they also discussed educational opportunities at the Career & Technical Education Center and STEM based careers in Mississippi. The day’s event was funded in part by the WIOA Governor’s Discretionary Grant.
