Each year, students in Glen Reeder’s 2nd Grade EXCEL class have the opportunity to research and create a presentation on a famous Mississippian. This year, they were visited via Zoom, by one of these famous Mississippians. Second grade student Doro Smith wanted to learn more about a scientist and chose Dr. Doris Taylor, Researcher. Reeder assisted Smith in reaching out to Dr. Taylor to learn more about the research she is doing with hearts and to learn more about her personal life. Dr. Taylor even has New Albany connections as her mother was from New Albany. Dr. Taylor, who is making medical history, provided a PowerPoint presentation about the research she is doing with whole-organ decellularization.
