Elke Lipsey’s Child Development class and April Voyles’ Health Science II class at the New Albany School of Career & Technical Education participated in a collaboration project on Thursday, November 19.
Students in the Child Development class are studying the parenting of infants and are taking care of their “sugar babies”. During the project they participated in a well-baby checkup for their “sugar baby”. Students had to fill out medical history forms for their “baby” and sit in the waiting room waiting on their appointment.
Health Science II students have been studying growth & development. These students got hands-on experience by performing check-ups for the “sugar babies”. Students weighed and measured the baby’s length and head circumference. They plotted that information on growth charts. Students also discussed developmental milestones and immunizations with parents. Health Science II virtual students played the part of the telemedicine physician and discussed birth defects by zoom.
