Data Collection Facts:
The New Albany School District is fortunate to be the recipient of the SHAPE UP! - Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grant. This grant will provide federal funding to help improve the physical education and health education for our students, employees, and the community.

One of our primary responsibilities with this grant is a reporting process, requiring us to collect physical education and fitness data throughout the year.

The purpose of the data collection is to determine the number of minutes our students are active at school and outside of school. Middle and high school students keep a log of their activity during the week, while an inventory is sent home with elementary students so that their parents can assist them with filling out the information.

Parents, please assist your younger students in filling out surveys as they are sent home and return to the school in a timely manner. Older students should be encouraged to fill their surveys out accurately as they are given time during the school day to complete this task.

This information is completely confidential.

Data collections for the 2011-2012 school year will be:
September 12-16
November 7-11
January 22-27
April 9-14

We will continue to collect this same type of data throughout the three-year grant process (2009-2012).
