Salutations everyone! I hope all has been well since I last updated you all. I'm sure you've all heard about the Lady Dawgs basketball team is going to Jackson on Monday, March 1st. It would be so great if you could come out and support their way to victory for state!
Baseball season is here! NAHS home baseball games will be held on March 2 and 5. NAHS golf team will be playing at Pontotoc on March 4. Then on the 5th, New Albany, along with West Union, Ingomar, Myrtle, and Corinth, will play at Oaks Country Club. NAHS tennis will be playing at Alcorn on the 5th as well. NAHS softball will have a tournament in Tupelo on the 6th.
Senorita Minnick needs everyone going on the Spain trip the following message: "We have recently changed the itinerary of the Spain trip to an 8-day tour of Barcelona and Madrid. Here are some new details: Take a guided tour of Barcelona and see the famous Las Ramblas area and Montjuic Hill (site of 1992 Olympics).Visit architectural highlights of Barcelona designed by the famous Spanish architect GaudĂ, including Parque Guell, Casa Milá, and the unfinished "La Sagrada Familia." Attend a pottery workshop and make a souvenir to take home. Explore the Royal Palace in Madrid. Attend a flamenco dance lesson followed by a traditional performance. Visit the Prado Museum and see famous works by Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, and others."
The following students had artwork submitted to the NECC High School Art Competition: Bobbie Rogers, Kaitlyn Cochran, Summer Sanderson, Cecilia Lemus, Lauren Teague, McKinley Ranager, Maegan Trexler, Katie Luna, Meagan Cobb, Morgan Frain, Matthew Stacy and Sonny Harrison. Congratulations and good luck to you in the competition!
The NAHS Chorus groups received all superiors in recent district competition, all of the groups will continue to state competition next. Congratulations to all of you!
The Anchor Club is accepting any monetary donations to help New Haven School, who needs a new bus. Please see Mrs. Crain for more information. Golf t-shirts are on sale now. Order forms available in the office, or you may contact any member of the golf team. NAACP scholarship applications can be picked up in the office or the counselor’s office. Due date is March 12th.
Deadline to register for the April ACT is Friday, March 5th. Reminder: ACT Test Prep Workshop Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 8:30 - 12:30 New Albany High School Media Center- $10.00 Registration Fee. Turn in form to Mrs. Criddle. Deadline April 1st at 12:00, forms available in the high school office.
 The schedule for third nine weeks tests is as follows: Wednesday, March 3 – 1 and 2 periods, Thursday, March 4 -3 and 4 periods , Monday, March 8- 5 and 6 periods, Tuesday, March 9- 7th period. State test practice schedule is as follows: Tuesday, March 9 will be Biology I. Wednesday, March 10 – U. S. History. Thursday, March 11– Algebra I, Friday, March 12 – English II
Remember to keep checking the school website for new videos. We have added an old video, “Big House” which was created for the NAHS Boys team in 2005 when we went to Jackson. Many of you will remember the faces and good times, this video features interviews from many former NAHS coaches and players from championship teams. You can hear from Harvey Childers, Chuck Poer, John Stroud, Warner Bradford, Drake Finley, Clark Trout, Matt Koon, Mallory Stanford Horn, Will Henson, Brad Rogers, Ed Maxwell, Beth Rutherford Robertson, Emma Koon, Stacy Stepp Peaster and more!
