NAES and NAMS To Have New Administrators
The New Albany School Board has approved several personnel changes in the school district. Lecia Stubblefield was named Director of Curriculum, Federal Programs, and Transportation. The board approved Lisa Mitchell as Principal of New Albany Middle School. Jamey Wright was hired as Assistant Principal for New Albany Elementary School.Â
Lecia Stubblefield will work at the District’s Central Office as Director of Curriculum, Federal Programs, and Transportation, replacing Robert Merritt. Mrs. Stubblefield has served as Principal at New Albany Middle School since 2007. Prior to coming to New Albany in 2005 as Assistant Principal at NAMS, Stubblefield was elementary principal at East Union Attendance Center. She worked for five years as Project Coordinator for North Mississippi Education Consortium and Director of North Mississippi Appalachian Center for Higher Education. Stubblefield received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Blue Mountain College, and Master of Education and Educational Specialist Degrees from the University of Mississippi.
Lisa Mitchell, a New Albany native, will replace Stubblefield as Principal of New Albany Middle School. Mitchell comes to NAMS from New Albany Elementary School where she has served as Assistant Principal for the past six years. Before serving in an administrative capacity, Mitchell was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Mattie Thompson Elementary and New Albany Elementary School. Mitchell is a graduate of Blue Mountain College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.Â
New Albany Elementary School will also see some administrative changes in the upcoming school year. Jamey Wright will replace Lisa Mitchell and be the new assistant principal at New Albany Elementary School. Wright began his elementary teaching career at NAES eight years ago and most recently taught at West Union Attendance Center. He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Blue Mountain College and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi. Â
“We are pleased to be able to fill these positions with these outstanding educators and administrators,” said Charles Garrett, Superintendent of New Albany Schools. “We are confident that the administrative changes we have made will allow our school district to continue leading the way for excellence in education.”
