Billy Matkins was recently recognized for ten years of continual service by the SkillsUSA National Organization. Mr. Matkins serves on the National Education Team in Masonry. He was recognized at the annual National Education Team Appreciation Breakfast on June 22, 2009. His duties are to help set up and assist in judging the Masonry contest.
His wife, Dr. Kay Matkins, has been serving on the National Education Team representing Related Technical Math for six years. Mr. Matkins is presently employed at the New Albany-Union County School of Career and Technical Education as the Building Trades Instructor. Dr. Matkins serves as an Associate Professor of Education at Blue Mountain College.
SkillsUSA is an international organization representing over 300,000 students. The SkillsUSA National Championship was held June 21-26 in Kansas City, Missouri with over 5,000 students competing in 92 various skills and leadership contests. The championship is sponsored by business and industry along with countless volunteers. Students from secondary and post secondary schools and colleges from across the United States, plus Puerto Rico and Guam could be represented. The SkillsUSA International Championships will be held in Calgary, Canada.
