Fifteen varsity athletic teams from New Albany High School have earned “scholar team” designation from the Mississippi High School Activities Association.

“We encourage excellence on the playing field, as well as in the classroom,” said Shane Sanderson, NAHS Athletic Director. “It’s a great honor for our athletic teams and our school district to be recognized in this way.”

The Mississippi High School Activities Association awards the scholar team distinction to teams with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Scholar teams from NAHS include:

  • Cross Country
  • Fast Pitch Softball
  • Cheerleading
  • Girls Golf
  • Boys Soccer
  • Girls Track
  • Volleyball
  • Girls Powerlifting
  • Boys Golf
  • Girls Basketball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Baseball

“The New Albany School District has long been known for its academic and athletic achievements. We are proud of our scholar-athletes who are carrying on that tradition,” said Jackie Ford, Superintendent of Schools.
