Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break!  It is always nice to have some time away from school! The weather has been absolutely amazing!  Now for some New Albany High School News!

On March 24th Chandler Pickens participated in Special Olympics State level playing basketball in Madison where he received a gold medal. On March 30th Life Skills classes participated in Area 11 Special Olympics in Pontotoc.

Also on March 30th Journalism and yearbook students traveled to Ole Miss for the Mississippi Students Press Association conference. Students were able to go to different workshops involving social media, photography, and Imovie.

On March 30th NAHS students in Mrs. Moore’s Oral and Electronic Communications class visited the elementary school to help the younger ones with PowerPoint.

NAHS Senior Lauren Teague repainted and refurbished the New Albany Rotary Club’s “Rotary Cogwheel” so that she could earn community service hours for her National Honor Society Cords.

The Ish-te-ho-to-pah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to announce New Albany High School senior Josh Creekmore as its DAR Good Citizen for the 2011-2012 school year.

Bulldog catcher Riley Alef has a huge congratulations in order for being selected to Crossroads All-Star Game at Trustmark Park in Pearl following the season.  Congrats to Peyton Dunlap who signed with Northeast for Golf.

The Lady Dawgs fell to Corinth 9-1 on April 2nd.  NA beat IAHS 10-3 on March 31st. On March 31st NAHS won against Ripley.  On March 9th the Lady Dawgs fell to TIsh County and Lewisburg. They also played North Pontotoc on April 10th.  They will play at Itawamba on April 14th.

The NAHS baseball team beat North Pontotoc 11-1 on March 31st.  On April 2nd the Bulldogs won against Rosa Fort 10-0.  They also won 14-2 over Ripley on April 7th.  They played Lewisburg at Olive Branch on April 10th.  They will play Lewisburg on April 13th and Tupelo on April 14th.

On April 12th, the golf team will play against Oxford and Lewisburg.

On March 31st, tennis were victorious as they won 7-0 over Lewisburg in division play. They continued their winning streak on April 3rd against Starkville building their season record to 7-1.They played at home against Mooreville on April 10th.

On April 4th, Ms Rodgers A.P English class had the opportunity to travel to Memphis and visit the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was shot, Sun Studios, and the Rock and Soul Museum.  They have currently been reading literature related to blues.

On April 25th, Mrs. Thompson will be taking students to see The Addams Family at the Memphis Orpheum.

The Band Banquet will be April 27th.  A Mandatory Prom Parent Meeting will be April 19th at 5:30 pm at the NAHS auditorium. Each student must have a parent or guardian with them. NAHS Beauty Review will be April 21st.  NAHS Athletic Banquet tickets are now on sale for $10, the event will be May 15th.
