New
Albany Schools to Offer H1N1 Vaccine for Students
The New Albany School District (NASD) will allow a
Center for Disease Control approved health clinic to
adopt our school and offer the H1N1 Flu Vaccine for
our students. This adopt-a-school program is a nationwide
CDC program to vaccinate as many children as possible
in an effort to prevent as much H1N1 Flu as possible.
Our school nurses will not be administering the vaccine,
but will be facilitating the process of organizing
the scheduling, parent information, and consent forms.
The NASD is neither recommending nor discouraging these
H1N1 vaccinations; we are only offering the opportunity
for parents of every student in NASD to make that decision
for their own child. Many members of the medical community
think this is a good way to help children and parents.
Children 9 years and under will need two vaccines, 3-4
weeks apart. We do not have a specific date for the vaccinations
at this time. More information will be made available to
you as the school district receives it.
