FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) provides students with the business and leadership training needed for success in the world of business.
FBLA is the
largest and oldest business student organization in the
world. FBLA is centered around preparing adolescents
for future business opportunities. Our chapter is traveling
around to all the local businesses and asking for donations.
In return businesses will receive a spot on our local
FBLA sponsor page, which will be linked to the New Albany
Schools Website.

FBLA Students Win at Northern District Conference
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Northern District Conference
was held Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Itawamba Community College
in Tupelo, Mississippi. Students from the New Albany School of Career
and Technical Education competed in a variety of areas from Networking
Concepts to Impromptu Speaking. The following students were recognized
as winners at the district level:
- Taylor McCreight - 4th Place; Business
Procedures
Austin Taylor - 4th Place; Networking Concepts
- Taylor Watson - 2nd Place; Impromptu Speaking
- Ammy Hill, Andrea Williams, and Kayla Browning - 2nd Place; Banking
and Financial Systems
- Katie Aderholt - 6th Place; Business Communications
- Drew Davis, Hannah Prater, Haven Boyd, Rebecca Taylor,
and Joshua Googe - 2nd place; Parliamentary Procedure
District winners will attend the 2010 FBLA State Leadership Conference
in Jackson, Mississippi in April, where
they will compete with
other FBLA members from across the state. Alison
Moore, Business and Computer
Technology teacher at the New Albany School of
Career and Technical Education, serves as the FBLA advisor.

Helps the Community - Tech Scouts
This
year FBLA is having several groups of Girls Scouts come in and learn
computer skills and work toward earning their Computer Badge. Your
donations will go towards snacks and supplies to help sponsor this
community project.

Pro
Sports Career Day
Students
involved in the DECA and FBLA organizations at the New Albany
School of Career and Technology recently attended Pro Sports Career Day
in Memphis, TN. DECA and FBLA sponsors, Molly Bryan and Alison Moore
took 38 students, grades 9-12, to the event.
“Pro Sports Career Day” is an educational workshop presented
by the
Memphis Grizzlies management team. This event is a unique opportunity
for students to meet the professionals who work behind the scenes in
professional sports and learn how they got their start in the field.
Speakers for this year’s event included:
- John Haun, Director of
Marketing for Athletic Resource Management
- Mike Redlick, Executive Vice President of Business Operations for
the Memphis Grizzlies
- Angela McCarter, Director
of Marketing & Promotions for the
University of Memphis
Athletic Department
- Patrick Byrne, Director
of Sales & Marketing for the AutoZone
Liberty Bowl
- Jarvis Greer, Sports Director for Action News 5
In addition to this year’s
panel discussion, the special day included
a college fair featuring some of the best business and sports
management programs in the Mid South.
The events of the day concluded
with the students watching the Memphis Grizzlies take on the Golden
State Warriors.
